In the news

Saddam is due to be handed over to the Iraqis today to stand trial for crimes against humanity.

The UK download chart is due for release in September, seems to be an evermore popular way of getting music, wonder if the soulseek figures are taken into account??!

One of the BB Harem will be out this weekend, following the surprise entry of Becki

Tim Henman is starting as favorite for his quarter final today, although to get to lift the cup he will have to get past probably Roddick, and then most likely Federer in the final. Hewitt will probably fall today to the later.

Printmaking

The printmaking went really quite well last night! Peeled off quite a few (3 pretty decent ones) in an hour, so was chuffed. Unfortunately cos we had to use the rubber inks, they take an age to dry properly (especially when used liberally!), so I've had to bring them into the office and peg them up. Estimated full drying time is weeks rather than days too!!

Dad still doing well, so the plans are being made for the visiting. Nic is taking Mum over on Thursday, I'll go on Friday on the way home from work, and then take Mum on the Saturday.

MUST go for a run tonight. Steve D started his campaign this morning (getting up at 0450 hrs - no thanks). Also must organise when we can use our livingwell vouchers!

Was used as a dance guinea pig last night - Tasha needed to try out a few moves with a complete "non-dancer", to see if they were feasible!! Good fun, but did highlight what a complete spam I am at the "human movement" thing!

Praise Be!

MMQ give a good review

New Media

Tonight I shall be mostly doing printmaking. Deb & I are trying something different to "see if it clicks".

Last night was busy doing Mellows business, Tasha busy lining up the next number and I got roped into producing the posters for the next social event.

Have heard this morning that Dad had a good night and is off the ventilator. Infact he is doing so well they are going to boot him out of ITU this morning, rather than this evening. He should be back up on the ward this afternoon.

End of day round up

Dad's op went to plan, and he is now in ITU. The plan is to take him off the ventilator this evening and hopefully onto the ward tomorrow.

Here's the last few composites

Good cop...bad cop

Heard this morning that Trapper's offspring has arrived - a wee boy, and also heard that Paul has gone back into hospital with a DVT!

Dad

Dad was finally admitted to hospital yesterday (Sunday) and is scheduled for the operation at 0815 hrs this morning. Really surprised that Mum said it was only 3 hours (I'm pretty sure that last time he had it done it was at least twice that). Saw them on Saturday and both then and when Mum dropped him off was the most positive that he's been for ages.

The life laundry momentum continued and have moved the PC stuff to its true resting place at home now (i.e. everything can stay permanently connected without fear of small hands and teeth disrupting them! With that in mind completed the final 3 composites from this years holiday (after I'd done the ironing of course), but unfortunately won't get posted until later.

Finally got off my ass and sanctioned the line test for broadband too.

Wimbeldon was washed out mostly over the weekend, but some play was managed on Sunday.

Went for a run on Friday night, don't know quite what happened, but could hardly walk at times on Saturday, although the pain would go on and off. Yesterday, it only hurt when I had shoes on, and this morning appears to be fine. At one point on Saturday, I though an x-ray might be in order.

Looks like a great sunny day starting here, but is due to change.

A few more pictures...

Chance for a little creativity tonight..

The mighty Newgale beach
(on a busy day!)

You can't grind me down!

Plenty of badness being chatted about in the office today, but still not getting through my holiday deflector shield. MMQ has sent some mighty emails which stirred the rebellion.

Still feeling creative too, which is unheard of! Require lots of stimulation, listening to music will feature over the weekend (probably spurred on because of the renewed sniff in getting an iPod!) and also been checking out digital images quite nice for including in future projects. Which reminds me, I did start taking some pictures on holiday (which I must finish) for the on-going "homepage" revamp.

Swiss Accuracy

England are out of Euro2004...

..but they shouldn't have been. Admittedly we didn't play well in midfield, and Rooney off injured was also a blow, but we defended superbly (especially Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole). And despite Portugal equalising after the lead we'd kept for most of the game, we kept on trying and didn't give up - this led to Sol Campbell scoring but the goal was then disallowed. Everything I've read and heard this morning suggests that that was a very poor decision by Urs Meier the Swiss referee.

Seems that they could be doubts on Rooney starting next season.

On a more positive note, the weather this morning seems to be great, which was predicted, but is correct, and also looks good for Sunday (maybe a BBQ??)

Tasha took her first setting rehearsal last night for one of her production numbers in Half a Sixpence - all went well. This was after she had been to JORPS to see about the class structure for Florence next year. Her best friends Maea and Harriott are in the other class (but Tasha things it will affect them more than Florence). Florence knows most of the people in her class and wasn't phased when we told her she'd only get to see Maea at break time!

After Dad's operation was cancelled earlier in the week, he is due to be admitted again this Sunday (hopefully things will go to plan this time). I guess a similar time frame as last time, meaning op on Monday, ITU Tues/Wed, visitors Thursday

Secret Moods

I'm still pretty much buzzing from the holiday thing at the moment, and have several little reminders all around me that keep that way. Everyone else around me is on a real downer though - the office thing just isn't working at the moment and a lot of people can't see any future at all.

I have to keep myself in these conversations - secretly hiding my "oh well - life goes on" feelings! I've been really quite productive since coming back, but none of the work is stressing me or getting me down in anyway (not felt that way for years).

This years holiday has definitely changed me, F+N are really growing up into their own very individual characters and its really fantastic. I get snips of what the future holds in store and it looks good, which I think is what is keeping my head above the depression here.

Had a good chat with Dave yesterday - his horizontal attitude is good, and has just got back from a few breaks, windsurfing, surfing, waterskiing etc etc and has just bought a dingy!!

Filing more digital pictures last night, hopefully begin archiving soon - the life laundry session is taking a good hold, through loads of stuff out from the office and at home now.

Harry Potter

Finally getting round to starting the Harry Potter trial. Can't wait for Florence to loose her twitchyness about all things witchlike. Have 3 of the 4 books so it should be a good continuous journey, nearly knocked off Philosopher's Stone now. Still need to get Tasha out to the cinema to see the latest film too.

Chilled Out..

Its great that I'm still in the holiday mood. Have got all the photos off the camera and deleted the chaf. Grabbed all of the composite stuff, and will hopefully start putting them together. Really looking forward to the mixed media thing in July, but last night was good, and the first few copies of the CCG are ready (and look pretty darn good!) Hope that the creative vibe lasts until July though!

Must get back into the fitness thing (but not too hard after hearing about Paul's collapsed lung!). Also with the weight gain of the holiday I really need to start!

Only 8 weeks until the next holiday now!!

20 June 2004

Forget the Bahamas..

Check this out for the view from our holiday kitchen window. No doubt more pictures will follow when I get round to it, but was a fantastic break. Great weather (no rain at all throughout the fortnight), had some surf on the boogie board. Ate far too much, drank too much and generally completely over indulged - brilliant!!

Just a snippet, so much to do, but definitely have some more later!

Air traffics disruption

Good old Siemens (I think its us that did this one), seem to have caused a bit of a blunder

Stupid White Men

After finishing the Moore Book, it is interesting to note that stupid white men are not just found in the US, we also have our fair share

Setting about the last day of work before going on holiday today, last minute town visit this afternoon in order too.

Just heard some more work related news. 1. The Capex for the new PCs has been knocked back in favour of us "inheriting" the unwanted machines from the Scotland and Doncaster offices! 2. PA is resigning

Set up my imood indicator

Keep on runnin'

Well the deed is done, actually got back into the running schedule, did the full 6.5k circuit, need to see if the time is reasonable tomorrow.

Flicking thro' the TV channels and came across RAMBO part II, excellent!

Had a mammoth 45 minute conversation with Deb tonight too. The Arts Council are not funding the Creative County Guide (which puts a lot of financial pressure on the project). Apparently Arts Council have given the money to another "undisclosed" project being planned by the ADOs in Stafford. As yet they are refusing to say what there project is and the grant went to them because they had a greater number of ADO's supporting their project then ours (what a surprise). The history behind the whole thing is that the project leader got rid of the ADO support at an early stage because they cost a lot of money for doing nothing, then surprise surprise manage to cobble a bid of their own together. Some of the project team are writing letters to the local and national press about the scandal!!! Anyway the long and short of it is that I won't get paid as much as I should.

Will we be able to afford to come home

Following the terror attacks in Saudi the oil prices have rocketed - OPEC are supposedly increasing demand to help the problem, but with oil prices reaching a high yesterday, and prices hitting £1.30 in London the outlook is bleak!

Missed BB last night (probably for the best as I had a much better nights sleep). I don't think that its very conducive to sleep, some very annoying characters, particularly Kitten.

Tim Henman has achieved something that no-one has done since the 1940's - reaching the semi-finals of the French Open

Had a pretty creative evening at Ridware last night, using masks of plant life to create pictures - although the examples weren't particularly good, could see some potential for using them in a mixed media work. Deb says that the creative county guide will be ready next week, she'll keep me updated on that. By the time the holiday is over there will be 20,000 copies ready at Ridware!!! I hope that they are going to expand the webpage a little more, I shall certainly be putting it up on my homepage after the hols.

Thorpe Cloud walk snippets

About to take a coffee break at Dovedale holes

This was a little way into the walk so the weather had cleared a bit, almost pleasant.

Thorpe Cloud summit ridge

Pretty wet on top, and Stubbs enthusiasm going as the camera packed up!

And so the long day wears on...

its been tough getting back into things in the office after a great weekend, and working in Nottingham last week. At least I'm now 1/3 through the working week for me. GC has left me a long list of things to do which has kept me focused at least - not sure what I'd have been like today if left to my own devices! Hopefully get out for a run later, be good to get back into that kind of thing, and need a bit of stamina if I'm going to do some down the beach!

Will attempt to post some pictures of the walk at the weekend later, not sure how successful all that will be

Hooray!

So I am alright eating chocolate!

Dad

...has finally got his dates (although he had to ask for them) for the op. He is due to have the pre-op on June 10th, just a collection of questions and blood tests, and the op proper is June 23 (thankfully not while we're away) - after admission the day before . He thinks that ITU will see him for 2/3 days and then he'll hopefully be on the ward for the weekend.

Worried?....Yes

Post Bank Holiday Blues

Fantastic weekend of not doing much at all (except bumming in the sun), excellent opportunity to think about holiday etc!

traveling home on Friday was a little more strained (but was kind of expecting that because of Friday before Bank Holiday), anyway soon got into the whole weekend. The whole thing was made easier by the huge Chinese banquet that Dad brought round.

Had a great day out on Saturday - went up Dovedale on Saturday. Was absolutely pissing it down when we arrived at Isaac Hotel, so decided to get straight up Thorpe Cloud. Saw nothing from the top and got a good downpoured on. Once in the valley managed to get a bit a shelter, and typically the weather had completely cleared by the time we were in the car on the way home!! 10 miles in total.

Normal Sunday swim, which every really enjoyed.

Out in the sun yesterday, just making lists of what we want to do on holiday!
