24 DAY4

Just watched the prequel to Season 4. Not giving much away, but certainly sparked the interest.

Tickets

My ticket to go and see England vs Italy at Twickenham came through yesterday, kind of forgotten I was going, paid for it some time ago - so it was a good morale booster.

Got a message from MAVIS yesterday that all pay increase have been deferred to June unless sanctioned by the Knighrider - so a bit of a blow.

Another productive day yesterday working on documentation....more of the same today

Wet & Muddy

Went for a ride on the bike (14.5k) but when I got back was covered in horrible wet salty mud. Working from HOME until the end of the week now, looking to be as productive as last week. Everyone except me seems to have a cold now - hopefully avoid that too.

Destroyed

A massive defeat was seen last night in the squash arena - unfortunately it was my defeat. My play just wasn't the same as Thursday..... Nice pint in the bridge afterwards though!

Florence very tired and I think she may be coming down with a cold or something.

Long Weekend Roundup

Friday night was a bit of a rush. Working from home ment that there was no Friday night travelling (which is always good), but got the kids bathed early and got ready to go and see Dolly's to Follies. Gill & Gordon arrived to sit with the kids and Nate was a little upset that GJ couldn't stay with him all night! The show was overall average with some really bad bits, but Tasha's Godspell production was fantastic. So much so that they are going to do the whole show next year - you'd be a fool not to get Tasha to do that!
Saturday (Tasha out all day 2 performances), Florence went to Mum's all day after ballet. Nate & I watched Monster's Inc.
Sunday went to the M&S Food Hall in Derby and got some picnic items and went to Markeaton Park - had a great afternoon, got back, got a fire going and all cuddled up on the sofa to watch the Incredibles. Fantastic Day

Work in the office this morning, Chi in looking for a desk (pull you finger out McQuitty if you're going to move), started snowing then stopped.

Weirds Bar & Grill

There are obviously other PWEI fans out there, as my PWEI at Wierds Bar & Grill CD has gone upto £10 and rising on ebay!

News

Tasha out at the show again last night. Watched "So I married an Axe murderer" and Reno911, which was very funny.

Working from home today (again), and it turns out that I didn't miss a great deal at the team brief yesterday (apart from Stuart getting the rough end of Ian).

This morning there was a glimmer of hope when the advertisment for the Winchester Engineering Manager job was advertised. Will our manager apply??? Also news of the new structure which sees Industry groups getting set up - which is hopeful for me at least.

20 January 2005

Midweek

Bike 13km
Tasha received some good reviews from the audience afterwards in the bar last night, so she was basking in some glory when she got home!!
Watched the remake of "The Italian Job" last night, which I wasn't expecting a great deal from, but like some of the actors (Edward Norton, Jason Statham etc) - but was very pleasantly surprised. I was hoping that it wasn't going to be a direct copy of the Michael Caine classic version, and they had changed the story enough, but still kept in crucial plot lines that made the first film so good. When that finished got dragged in to watching the end of Speed on the TV.
Sounds like quite a few will be missing the team brief today. I shall be breaking my work from home day up by playing squash at lunchtime.

Composite Attempt

Composite
Composite,
originally uploaded by Phillip.
Had a go at the "new breed" of composite photo last night, and for a first time quick thinking subject matter - I was pretty happy with the result.

Tasha's opening night last night, and all went well apart from the fact that Nate fell over wehen picking up Florence and smashed his nose. As Tasha went to pick him up she did her back in again (not good for a week of dancing!)

As a result of Tasha being out watched I,Robot - which I thought was a good watch (better than I had imagined)

18 January 2005

Pig Out

Even though I was on my own last night I managed to not pig out in front of the TV. Did a wee bit of work and watched Threat Matrix, which was very good (a bit like a 24 meets The Agency style thing).

Final dress rehersal went well for Tasha, big night tonight.

Heard a very juicy story from Paul yesterday, how beardy has an agenda as soon as Paul leaves. Will be interesting to see how that pans out! Hopefully Mark back in the office today.

Titan

Great images from Titan here, and here

16 January 2005

Good films and bad

Great family weekend, seemed to have done all the usual stuff, and managed to get swimming in too. Tasha & I cranked up the fondue set for a lardy supper on Saturday evening, followed by Starsky & Hutch - BAD film, didn't even get to the end of it. Sunday night rehersal (penultimate dress rehersal), so watch Royal Tenenbaums - good film

13 January 2005

Back on the Bike

Bike short route 8.5k, got home to find Tasha ordering a monster Next order (so felt I had to add to it!). Working from home today

12 January 2005

Norville Rogers....

... is Shaggy's real name in Scooby Doo. This and more interesting facts like Picasso was arrested as a susect for stealing the Mona Lisa, here

DVD

Listening to: Tori Amos Unplugged

Looks like it will be a 4 day turn round on the DVDs from Tesco. I posted the first one in Monday mornings post, and am due to receive tomorrow. Pretty good service. Hopefully will be able to see Shark's Tale and The Grudge soon too.

Didn't get much done other than watch the final part of Sea of Souls - which was excellent. Hope that it wasn't a one-off. Need a serious life laundry session with personal stuff - far too much clutter.

11 January 2005

Listening to

Kind of stopped doing this...

Kings of Leon - Aha Shake Heartbreak

Better Day

Squash - lost (as usual) 5-0, but found it very difficult to actually hit the ball - which I'm putting down to not playing for a few weeks. Good to blow away th cobwebs though

Went for a beer with Andy afterwards, the Bridge had "Top Dog" on

Had a great chat with Tasha too - what with Christmas and general busy stuff, it seems quite a while since we've done that.

The office this morning is deserted, sitting here on my own.

10 January 2005

Composites

Just got excited about an entry in the Flickr blog about a Composites set. Unfortunately has nothing to do with the composite group I started, bummer.

The images are really cool though, might have me a go at that.

Weekend Roundup

A busy one.

Got a date finalised with Will & Carmel in February.

Nate's birthday on Saturday, so after Florence got back from ballet had the family over and then Louise, Dave, Maea & Evie came too. Good chat with Dave about "Robots".

Had a DIY nightmare changing the ringer for the busted door bell - but it got sorted eventually.
Sunday was long rehersal day too, which means Tasha leaves the house at lunchtime for the whole day and evening. Had a great afternoon with the kids, watched The Incredibles, which is absolutely fantastic.

Evening kicked back and watched Bad Boys 2 whilst doing everything that I should had done in the day!!

06 January 2005

DVD

No cycling tonight, Tasha is out at rehersal and costume fitting.

Joined the Tesco DVD rental club today and looking forward to start received some of the many DVDs I highlighted. Seems to be a great service, will wait and see how it pans out after some serious loading!!

Spidey

No bike riding last night, but a good day on the "trying not to eat like its Christmas" front.

Watched Spiderman 2 last night. Very good movie, although was getting irratated by the Toby Maguire character being soooo wet. Thought the effects were great and a nice introduction to Spiderman 3 at the end.

05 January 2005

Millau

Saw a great program on the Millau Viaduct last night. The thing is higher than the eiffel tower at its highest point, and the deck of the bridge is 240m from the valley bed. The bridge was made on the top of the hill and gradually pushed out into the open were it would meet one of the legs. More here

We have visited the pre-bridge Millau a few times.

Spinout

Bike ride 11.89km

On the way home last night the bloke in front just span his car - not quite sure whether he stepped onto the grass , fell asleep or what. He dig a couple of 360's then managed to get the whole car on the grass and started rolling down the central reservation!

Florence was very tired last night, which doesn't look good for starting school a fresh this morning!

1st Day Back

First day back in the office, and I nearly remembered to bring everything with me!!

Lots of gossip revolving around Paul's decision to leave (and the big whole that will be left) Mark says a few words too. Good DVD nattering as well as getting a few tips off Paul (before he leaves) about cycling!

Quite a productive day considering its the first day back

02 January 2005

Christmas is over, Phil is getting fat....

Crikey, weighed in this morning, and I've managed to put on 3/4 stone over xmas!!! My vices have been (in massive quantities) - battered peanuts (curry, thai curry, coconut and chilli), kettle chips, chocolate (anything) and generally eating twice as much as I should and washing it down with a few cans of stella or a bottle of vino.

Still I've got my new bike now.....

Happy new year
